Turkish Pro-government newspaper Star’s front pageran with the headline “Terrorist Belgium” today, on the day a suspected terror attack hit the Belgian capital’s Zaventem Airport with casualties reported.
The paper’s front page headline was in reference to a Kurdish protest tent in the city of Brussels protesting against the Turkish state’s military operations in Kurdish towns and cities in which over 700 civilians have died in the past seven months.
Both Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, and Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have spoken out about Belgium’s “insincere stance towards terrorism”. Both called for the tent to be removed. The Turkish President Erdogan went even further and declared “do the terrorists have to blow something up there for them to understand?”
