The Diyarbakır Governor's Office made a statement yesteday (Sunday) regarding 7 people, 3 of whom were wounded and remained trapped in Amed's central Sur district. According to the statement, all 7 people were killed.
The Governor's statement claimed that “7 people trapped under debris conducted an armed attack against state forces, leading to a clash in which all 7 were killed, including a woman”.
Dilber Bozkurt, one of the 7 people, had spoken to Dicle News Agency early Sunday morning and said; “We will remain under debris if diggers continue to work today as well. Maybe we have just 5 minutes left to live”.
Bozkurt also spoke on the phone with Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır deputy Nursel Aydoğan, saying; “If something happens to us, be sure that we have been executed”. Bozkurt listed the names of 5 out of 6 people as follows; Mehmet Abdullah Yalvarma, Mahsun Gürkan, Mazlum Karakoç, Cüneyt Aydemiş and Eşref Polat.
Mahsun Gürkan is one of the two youths who had been seen running at the scene of the murder of Diyarbakır Bar Association President Tahir Elçi on 28 November 2015. He was reported to have been heavily wounded as he ran from police fire, which resulted in the death of Elçi.
Another eight people were killed on 12th Saturday in what was described as a 'staged clash.' The corpses of the 15 people were retrieved from Sur today and taken to local morgues. 23 People have been killed in the past three days, (since Friday) when state officials declared the end of the siege in Sur.
