An explosion on the Diyarbakir-Urfa motorway in Southeast Turkey (North Kurdistan) has left 6 police officers dead and at least 23 people injured.
The explosion occurred at around 15:15 (GMT) when a bomb-laden vehicle exploded as an armoured minibus carrying police officers passed by. The force of the explosion shattered and broke many windows in the surrounding area.
Ambulances and fire trucks arrived at the scene of the incident and carried the dead and injured to the Diyarbakir State Hospital. 3 other police officers are thought to be heavily injured.
Reports from Turkish media suggest clashes are taking place in the area after the explosion.
