Yazidi women fighters arrive in Raqqa to battle Islamic State

The Yazidi female fighters of the Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ), who declared last week that they would join the Raqqa offensive against the jihadist Islamic State (ISIS) group, have arrived in the city.

The first group from the YJŞ to arrive in Raqqa were greeted by fighters from the Women's Defence Units (YPJ), which operates in Rojava.

Speaking to RojNews, a YJŞ member, Dirok Zindi, said, "We are going to Raqqa to avenge the Yazidi homeland and Yazidi women. This is a very meaningful thing for me. Our most important duty is to save the Yazidi women enslaved by Daesh (ISIS) members. We will do everything we can."
