Abdullah Ocalan: Incarceration and Peace Calls - EVENT

The Kurdish Society at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, will be hosting a panel on 5 October 2016 to discuss the kidnapping and imprisonment of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan, and peace talks between the Turkish state and Kurdish movement since 1993.

The discussion will take place on the eve of the 18th anniversary of Abdullah Ocalan's ousting from Syria, which began a 3-month odyssey through Europe and culminated in Ocalan’s abduction in Kenya, what Kurds call “The International Conspiracy.”

Events and demonstrations are expected to take place across Europe on 9 October, the day Ocalan was forced to leave Damascus in 1998, after the Turkish government threatened to attack Syria.
